TRANSPORT
Melbourne is a relatively easy city to travel around by a variety of modes of transport. The terrain is generally flat, so walking or cycling can be a pleasure on a beautiful, sunny day.
CAR
Maintaining a car can be expensive. If you do own a car remember to purchase insurance to cover you for accidents and breakdowns. If you must travel by car, note that parking around the campus is limited and you generally need to pay.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Australia provides different sorts of transportation systems to travel around. The transportation system has trains, trams and buses in all areas.

Public transport in Melbourne is run by PTV. You can travel by train, tram or bus through three different zones.

The Myki card is used to pay for transport in Melbourne. You can travel in buses, trains and trams by using it. Firstly, you’ll need to buy a myki card. Secondly, you will need to load money on it. You can do this at any train station, many tram stops and also hundreds of shops, including 7-Eleven and anywhere you see the Myki sign. Think of it as a smart card which has money on it to travel around.

BICYCLE
Many staff and students enjoy the health and financial benefits of riding a bicycle to get around the city.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS
The Melbourne Airport website www.melbourneairport.com.au is useful for maps and airline, flight and passenger information. It also lists transport options to the city centre.

UIT can arrange for airport transfers, you have to book in advance and there is a fee for this service.

Alternatively, the Skybus is a popular airport shuttle service. If you are travelling to or from the airport on your own or with one other person, the Skybus is cheaper than a taxi. See www.skybus.com.au for more information.
